Folkestone Triennial (Ghost Feed by John Gerrard)

The Challenge
World-renowned artist John Gerrard's "Ghost Feed" needed a canvas that could withstand the coastal elements of Folkestone, UK while delivering the visual fidelity his work demands. The installation required outdoor technology that wouldn't compromise the art.

Digital Art Without Boundaries
The Vision
In collaboration with Pace Gallery, Folkestone Creative, and the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation, the vision was to bring Gerrard's powerful meditation on technology, nature, and crisis to life in a public outdoor setting. The display needed to disappear, letting the art speak for itself.
A Haunting Reflection on Our Times
The Experience
BSX provided an Xterra Outdoor LED Display to power Ghost Feed, a striking work where a monkey stares at its phone while a digital forest burns around it. The flames are virtual, but the destruction is real, drawn from Amazon and California wildfire data. The weatherproof Xterra brings this haunting piece to life in Folkestone's coastal environment, inviting viewers to confront their role as passive observers in a time of crisis.
Art That Provokes, Technology That Endures
The Impact
Ghost Feed has become one of the most talked-about installations at the Folkestone Triennial. Visitors engage deeply with its message, and the seamless outdoor display proves that digital art belongs in public spaces, not just galleries. The collaboration demonstrates how technology can serve artistic vision without compromise.
